Focus
on a special feature of the Axicon verifier software for Mac
There is a feature available only on the Mac version of the Axicon verifier software that allows switching the readhead LEDs off, but with the sensors still working, so that a scan can be taken using transmitted light, going though the barcode as opposed to the reflected light normally emitted by the LEDs.
When using this Transmitted Light Mode option, you are not working under the ISO/IEC 15415 specifications required for printed barcode verification. However the aim is to verify some important parameters of barcodes printed on film, such as a very accurate estimate of the bar width reduction, and all structural data (decode, margins, structure...)
Application: This option, available only on Mac for the time being, is aimed at the pre press sector, where checking films before plate printing can be a very useful time and cost saving exercise.
